Baby Samantha's trip report
-
- In the beginning, we stayed in Hilo on the Big Island. They didn't have a crib at this hotel,
so Daddy improvised. I slept in his dive gear bag (which is padded and comfy!) -
- The bed & breakfast hotel was really nice - they had an open patio that we hung out on.
In the picture of Mom and me on the patio the girl & guy on the right (sitting) are from the
French Olympic Snowboarding Team. Tres Cool! -
- The first days we just drive around and saw Hawaii. We saw some waterfalls
and some other scenery, including the pretty orange flowers in the rainforest trees.
Mom and I posed for a photo at Rainbow Falls. -
- We went to Volcanoes National park, and saw the Mauna Loa volcano! The main crater
- was pretty cool, but I had to stay far away because of the fumes. Most of the terrain
was covered by lava, and we even saw where the active lava flow was hitting the - ocean, making huge clouds of very acidic steam.
-
- We walked around downtown Hilo, especially at a really nice park. I got a picture of
- Mom, and she took one of us.
-
- We drove to the other side of the island after a few days in Hilo. Mom and Dad could
- only find two flat places to change my diapers - in the trunk and on the floor of the car.
- We stopped and saw the Waipio Valley, and lots of great coastline. We also went
- so far north that we could see the outline of Maui (the next island) in the clouds.
-
- We went swimming one day, which was pretty freaky - I had never been in the ocean.
- Dad took me in, and then Mom swam later. I looked pretty cool on the beach.
- Back at the hotel, I rolled over (back to front) for the first time. And I posed for a
- strange photo with a can of "Spam" - I don't understand why, but Trasi Judd says it's funny.
-
- We went for a snorkeling trip, but the only picture I have is the fish (Amberjack) they
caught on the way back. I did not swim this time, but Mom and Dad did. -
- We also saw a turtle in one of the fancier Hotels! and on our last night we saw a
Polynesian dance show and stayed out to watch the last sunset. -
- On the way back to the airport, we stopped and saw some flowers at an orchid garden.
Mom & Dad looked different after the trip - very relaxed. I am not comfortable with change,
so I used the long flight home to begin a non-stop session of puking, screaming and
crapping. All in all, I expelled at least 2x my body weight in fluids. Mom & Dad now look
tired and a bit scared - just like I like them. Mission accomplished. -
- I can't wait to go back to Hawaii!
