The Family Shortbread Recipe - Copeland Family

Ingredients

• 4 room temperature sticks of butter (not margarine)
• 1 packed cup of brown sugar
• 4 cups of cake or pastry flour (and have more on hand)

• Option garnish - diced Maraschino cherries

Preparation

Preheat oven to 325 - 350 degrees.

Combine butter sticks and brown sugar. Cut in at least four cups of flour, add more as required to create shortbread dough that is not too sticky. Roll dough to approx 1/4 inch thickness, cut cookies, bake. Garish with cherry bits as desired. Makes a few dozen cookies, depending on size of cookie.
